Located on the south side of Thayer Avenue in Silver Spring just two blocks from the Red Line Metro, the Residences at Thayer will be a transit oriented development. The building is being designed to include 52 mixed-income apartment units and covered parking. A cast-in-place concrete platform will support four stories of timber framed residential construction. Parking will be located beneath the platform. The approximate gross framed area of new construction equals 49,548 SF.
The 22,000 SF project site once housed the headquarters of the National Association of the Deaf and Blind. New construction will feature an interpretative wall honoring accomplishments of deaf and blind citizens.
MCE Scope of Services
Meyer Consulting Engineers Corporation functioned as the Structural Engineer of Record. Our work will encompass the schematic, design development, construction document, bidding and construction administration phases. Design work began in September 2011. Construction is scheduled to begin in on July 1, 2012 with completion one year later in July 2013. The construction budget is $7.621 Million.
