Size & Type of Project – Office Building Conversion to Apartments
Previously the Peace Corps Headquarters, this 185,000-sf building was converted into 161 market rate units and 8,000 sf of retail space. The conversion added high-end amenities including a private rooftop clubroom, outdoor terrace with grilling stations and a luxury rooftop pool.
MCE Scope of Services
Meyer Consulting Engineers was the Structural Engineer of Record & Special Inspection Agency of Record for the project. Our work encompassed all phases from schematic through construction administration beginning with an existing condition inspection to compare the configuration of in-place framing with that shown on the original office building framing plans as well as to identify in-place framing in need of repair. Our work also included partial removal of exterior walls, new wall openings, penthouse amenities, infill of the existing atrium opening, reinforcing of the existing slabs, and the replacement of the entire façade.
Design work for conversion began in June 2021; Construction commenced in November 2022 with completion in 2024.
