Project Description

Size & Type of Project

The Marriott Headquarters Garage consists of an independent, free standing parking facility constructed in phases and housing 1,934 vehicles. The facility is semi-circular in appearance and is constructed of precast/prestressed components. Phased design and construction encompassed approximately 10 years.

One of the most interesting facets of the work was vertical expansion above existing construction. When the first phase of the garage was designed, future vertical expansion was not a certainty. Hence, when vertical expansion (addition of a new level above existing construction) was finally decided upon, the design and construction of the first phase of the garage had to be reviewed and structural reinforcement designed, as appropriate.
